• Jim’s Testimony

Axios Consulting LLC September 4, 2026

The following is a written testimony from Jim, the husband of one of our recent clients, Cory. Family names have been omitted for privacy.

I’m Jim, and in June of 2026, my wife Cory chose to face Alzheimer’s on her own terms. After fighting it with all the current knowledge available, Cory, our sons and I traveled to Switzerland where Cory utilized the organization Dignitas for medical assistance in dying.

I’m not sure this would have been possible without the help of Axios Consulting. At Axios, our contact was Bryan. Bryan’s father utilized Dignitas to end his suffering with Alzheimer’s. Witnessing how involved the process can be, particularly for people no longer well equipped to deal with complexity, Bryan and his son formed Axios.  Their stated goal is to help families facing one of the most difficult experiences imaginable, and they exceeded our expectations in every way.

Dignitas is a wonderful organization, staffed by caring, helpful, and compassionate people. But Switzerland is a long way away, English is not the primary language, and the paperwork can feel overwhelming. While I was able to help Cory with most of the paperwork, it was a struggle and involved some time-consuming trial and error. In retrospect, I realize Bryan really could’ve streamlined the paperwork, eliminating months of frustration.

I finally realized I could use some help, and through networking, came across Axios. While I was correct in thinking Bryan would be a huge help to us navigating the legal bureaucracy, and finishing up the paperwork, that was really only the beginning of his assistance.

To Cory he became a true friend and her trusted advisor. There was never a week without at least one phone or zoom call; Cory depended upon his compassion and advice. The fact that he had been through the process meant everything to her, and she often asked him to describe the process, which he always did. It provided great comfort for her.

As focused as I was on the paperwork, I hadn’t even thought about how helpful Axios’s familiarity with Switzerland would be. Their knowledge of the language, culture, transportation system, and the Dignitas process all helped make an unfamiliar and emotionally overwhelming situation manageable. The hotel they had picked out was perfect. With Bryan managing everything, we were able focus on spending meaningful time together.

Finally, Bryan was there for us. We invited him along most of the time because we wanted him there. Particularly our adult sons, who appreciated that Bryan understood what they were feeling. But Bryan did not insert himself into situations, he made sure to be respectful of the family’s time together and waited until we invited him.

I would recommend Dignitas to anyone, and the process was beautifully handled.  But it would have been a different, and much more stressful situation, if Axios hadn’t managed the process for us.

    Regards, Jim
