- What Axios is doing
- Helping people understand their options and the requirements for pursuing Medical Aid In Dying in Switzerland.
- Offering information and guidance to those who seek to explore the DIGNITAS route so that they can determine if it is the best one for them and their family.
- You and your loved ones are always able to make whatever decision is best for your situation. No matter how far you are along in Axios’ process, or in DIGNITAS’ process, you can choose to change your mind at any time.
- At every point you are in control. You make the decisions about what is best for you and your family. Axios’ purpose is to help you understand what options are available, and explain the process if necessary.
- In working with DIGNITAS, you will be involved at every point of the discussion. This means that you will be communicating directly with DIGNITAS for the duration of the process.
- Axios’ Relationship with DIGNITAS. Axios Consulting does not have an official, professional or financial relationship with DIGNITAS. In no way does Axios claim to operate in a professional capacity with them.
- For some residents of the U.S. there are domestic options available. While Switzerland is a beautiful and serene place to end ones life, Axios recognizes that this is not in everyone’s reach for a variety of reasons. That is why communicating domestic options available to you is a part of the process. This way clients can decide whether to explore DIGNITAS as an option. Some of the limiting factors of U.S. based options include:
- Residency requirements
- Sickness eligibility
- Life Expectancy (e.g. in Vermont a person is not eligible to use the state’s law unless they can demonstrate that the patient’s current life expectancy is six months or less.)
- The cost of Axios’ services is earned at various stages, whether or not you complete your decision to use DIGNITAS services once in Switzerland.
- Medical Aid in Dying is a service provided by DIGNITAS in Switzerland. Medical Aid in Dying is legal in Switzerland and 11 states in the United States and is not considered a form of assisted suicide if performed in a state where Medical Aid in Dying is legal. The distinction between Medical Aid in Dying and Medically Assisted Suicide, depends upon the jurisdiction, but is typically distinguished by the amount of medical evaluation and medical clearance which takes place, for example medially clearing a person to be of sound mind and able to choose for himself to carry out his own wishes to use pharmaceuticals prescribed by a doctor, but self-administered.
